Selecting and Transporting The Capitol Christmas Tree
|

Just think how challenging it can be to find a Christmas tree that everyone in your
family thinks is perfect. Now multiply the number of people who need to be pleased
with your selection by the population of the United States and you’ll begin to get an
idea of what’s in store for Montanans in the coming year.
Safely delivering the nation’s Capitol Christmas Tree, with all of the trimmings, is a
grand endeavor shared by Forest Service employees and a growing list of Montana–
and Forest Service Northern Region-based partners.
But… Finding the perfect Christmas Tree— all 60+ feet of it—is the biggest
challenge of all! Employees of the Bitterroot National Forest ~ the Lead Forest—
have already started the search, and are inviting members of the public who are out
recreating on the Forest to join in the hunt.
Each of the Bitterroot National Forest’s offices have a kit that is available to
members of the public who are interested in helping us find suitable candidate trees.
Stop by one of our offices for the information. We’d love to have your help!
